Our Late Founder
The late Gene Thompson, a ninth-generation Caymanian and founder of TechCayman, hailed from a lineage of entrepreneurs. As a Director of Thompson Development Ltd., he showcased his family's innovation in property development and business ventures. Notably, he was a founding Director and Project Director for Health City Cayman Islands, successfully leading the project from start to finish. Gene held various roles including founding member of the Cayman Islands Real Estate Brokers Association, the Association for the Advance of Cruise Tourism, and co-founder of Have a Heart Cayman Islands. His enduring legacy and contributions to the Cayman Islands continue to impact the community.

Harry Chandi is a Caymanian businessman, founder of Magnum Jewelers, and real estate investor and developer in the Cayman and US Virgin Islands. He's renowned for his philanthropic work through Have a Heart Cayman Islands, providing vital heart surgeries for disadvantaged children. Chandi's expertise spans logistics, vendor relations, and team building. He co-founded TechCayman, Health City Development, and Medical Services.

Samir Mitra, a pioneer of the original Java team, transformed the internet by integrating mobile devices and internet software. He also founded Java Mobile (J2ME), now the cornerstone of the Android developer community and the Android operating system.
As an entrepreneur-in-residence at Sequoia Capital, Samir guided venture capital firms on new investments and successfully launched two technology startups: Cast Iron Systems and Prism Circuits, both later acquired by IBM and Mosys Inc., respectively. Drawn towards social impact, Samir served as a technology advisor to the Indian Prime Minister’s Office and the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, championing government digital initiatives globally. Samir is credited with numerous US and international patents, showcasing his expertise in diverse domains from circuit design to digital healthcare software.
